TENT SIZES

Once upon a time, the humble tent was the primary residence for nomadic tribes, though in this day and age the tent has now become the vehicle for those looking to go on holiday without the luxury (and subsequent expense) of staying in hotels or holiday homes. At some time or another everyone has been camping, but what some may not know is just how big a variance there is in the size of tents available on the commercial market. Tents can range in size from the smallest one-man structures (known as bivouac) to ones large enough to the kind used by attractions such as circuses, with the capacity to hold up to something like ten thousand people at a time. Even if you are not a circus owner, however, and are not even planning to run away to join one any time soon, there are still many uses for the more extreme size of tents, such as for holding outdoor weddings, garden parties and such like.

Even when it comes to the more traditional tent for camping purposes, however, there is still an impressive variance available when it comes to even more traditional tent sizes, though there are generally regarded as being two kinds of tents used for this recreational activity. One is the kind of tent which can be carried around easily by backpackers on bikes, boats or even on their back - small and obviously light in weight. These types of tents are also usually very easy to set up, carrying with them spring-loaded 'poles' that mean they can be constructed in literally just seconds. The second kind is rather heavier and is generally required to have some kind of transportation in which to carry them, such as a car or other sturdy vehicle. These also usually take longer to set up, up to half an hour at most.

Choosing the size of the tent that is right for you depends entirely on the individual circumstances of what said tent is required for, including how many people are intending to sleep in it. If you are holidaying alone and intending on doing so as a backpacker, clearly the smaller, lighter kind of tent is going to be the one you choose.
